"Business Tax would Exempt First $200,000 in Equipment," Helena Independent Record, February 18, 2009.
"Tara Veazey of the Montana Budget and Policy Center said the total market value of business equipment has jumped by 66 percent from 1994 to 2007. Yet over the same period, state and local government revenue derived from this tax dropped by 20 percent.
'This has meant a shift in property taxes to Montana homeowners,' Veazey said. Homeowners' share of the property taxes paid to state and local government have jumped from 38 percent in 1994 to 49 percent in 2007, she said."
