Below is a statement by the Montana Budget and Policy Center in response to the US Senate's vote on the motion to proceed on health care legislation.
“Today’s vote represents the first step in stripping health care away from hundreds of thousands of Montanans, but this fight isn’t over. Montanans need to continue to make their voices heard,” said Heather O’Loughlin, co-director of Montana Budget and Policy Center. “Senator Daines' vote to proceed to this bill is a clear indication of choosing partisan politics in Washington over the health of the Montanans he represents. As Senator Daines has heard from Montana patient advocates, rural hospitals, nurses, and many more, this bill risks the health care coverage of millions of Americans and will make insurance more expensive for so many more. The Senate needs to kill this bill before the lives of millions are put at risk.”
